History |
The Kansas City Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society was chartered in 1949 as the first chapter west of the state of Ohio. Because of this, it is known as the “Pioneer Chapter of the West”. Since the first 10 charter members it has grown to over 100 members. The first Tri-Chapter meetings began in the early 1950’s. The Topeka and Wichita Chapters rotate as hosts. In recent years the Arkansas-Boston Mountains Chapter has joined and so it has become a Quad-Chapter meeting. In 1999 a celebration was held for the Kansas City Chapter's 50th Anniversary with a banquet at the Kansas City Union Station. |
